MH370: Just Another Story of a Brave Man

ziyadnazem:

As Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 took to the skies in the early hours of Saturday, March 4th 2014, heading from Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur airport to Beijing, it was set to be a quiet flight, as the passengers all had their body clocks set to local time and the majority would certainly have been looking forward to a bit of sleep as they journeyed through the night.

The staff would have enjoyed these quiet night flights, with less demands on them, while people choose to sleep. Having completed its ascent, the seatbelt sign would have changed indicating the flight had reached cruising altitude and as blankets began to be distributed, the pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the pilot — said good night to Malaysian air traffic control and was about to greet Vietnamese air traffic control when he read the note he had been passed from one of the passengers via a crew member.

The note requested access to the pilot as a number of people’s lives back on the ground depended on this (insert your choice of ground hostage – the pilot’s family; snipers trained on political leaders – a group being held – you decide). The note specified that no one would be harmed whatsoever if an organized plan was followed. (You may choose to see the passenger who passed the note as an actual passenger – or perhaps another crew member who explained a situation to Shah – for now I will go with it being a passenger.)

Shah is instructed to turn off the responder, which he does. He is instructed to turn off the satellite radar ACARS system, which he explains he does not know how to do: he is an avid pilot who has always loved to fly and understands his plane well – but as he has never considered the need to turn off communications systems, he does not know how to do this, but explains that he can refer to the manual and 14 minutes after the transponder is deactivated so too is the ACARS system.

a homeless guy just said to me “do you tell jokes to make people laugh or to make people think you’re funny” and that is the most profound shit ive ever experienced

I asked my old science teacher this and he said “I make jokes to make myself laugh because I know I’m funny.”
